Giving

- supporting the life of St Lawrence Church, Eastcote, and helping us to help others

Inspired by the example of the 4th century saint that the church is named after, our vision as disciples of Jesus Christ is to see God's love and generosity shared with the community that surrounds us.

Our strapline gives a very direct account of our focus:

'The people of Eastcote are the treasure of God's church'

We are proud to have refreshed the interior of the church building with a project that completed in May 2023, which renewed the heating, lighting, and electrics - with a sound and display system which will serve those who worship in the church, but also make it better for use by the wider community too.

There is still work to be done to make the church meet the needs for those in the wider community to use it for meetings and events: a drop down screen is needed under the rood crucifix with a projector and display screens further back in the church. Related costs are in the region of £50,000, with a loan outstanding for the remaining costs of the earlier works in the region of £200,000.

The biggest parish expense is the cost of paying the wider Church for its support - including ministry -  just over £90,000 a year. Maintaining our buildings and paying for utilities, insurance and parish administration covered about a quarter of our expenditure in 2021. Most of the parish costs have increased with the cost of living crisis: maintenance costs, water, sewerage and administration costs.

The parish has a two-acre site with buildings that are ageing and need significant renovation and renewal. If we are to continue to serve the Uniformed Organisations in Eastcote by providing accommodation for their activities a large site-development project will need to be undertaken.

If you can contribute time, money or skills to a large development project to renew the church site for community use and sheltered residential accommodation, please get in touch with Fr John.
