St Lawrence Players
St Lawrence Players is a friendly and welcoming amateur drama group that is open to anyone who is interested in working together to put on a variety of productions – normally 3 a year – ‘just for the fun of it’!
We are a very sociable group and enjoy annual dinners, social evenings and theatre trips, as well as going to the pub for a quick post-rehearsal drink! We also raise significant sums each year for our nominated charity, which is chosen by our members at our Annual General Meeting.
The group was formed in 1947, and gave its first performance in February 1948. With over 77 years of history we are keen to look to the future to ensure that we can continue to have a flourishing drama group at St Lawrence Players for many years to come.
We are actively looking to welcome new members of all ages. And the group is not just for those who want to act or sing – our backstage crew support us in a variety of important roles including stage management, costume design, and lighting.
One of our recent productions, Bunkered, a comedy by Lynn Brittney, was performed in October 2024 and was very well received by our loyal audiences (see poster). Another recent production was The Revlon Girl by Neil Anthony Docking (see poster).
