St Lawrence Players

St Lawrence Players is a friendly and welcoming amateur drama group that is open to anyone who is interested in working together to put on a variety of productions – normally 3 a year – ‘just for the fun of it’!

We are a very sociable group and enjoy annual dinners, social evenings, theatre trips as well as going to the pub for a quick post-rehearsal drink! We also raise significant sums each year for our nominated charity which is chosen by our members at our Annual General Meeting.

The group was formed in 1947 and gave its first performance in February 1948. 2018 was therefore a very special year for St. Lawrence Players and, as we look back over the past 70+ years, we are also looking to the future to ensure that we can continue to have a flourishing drama group at St. Lawrence for many years to come.

We are actively looking to welcome new members of all ages. And the group is not just for those who want to act or sing – our backstage crew support us in a variety of important roles including stage management, costume design, and lighting.

Our last production, Thriller of The Year by Glyn Jones, was performed in May 2023 and was very well received by our loyal audiences (see pictures, below). Our next production is a comedy, Haywire by Eric Chappell. It promises to be another evening of great entertainment, so do come along!
